National Community
Safety and Security School
Strengthen Your Safety Culture

This intensive program is designed to be immersive and cover as much ground as possible over a ten-month period. The goal is to provide an introduction to foundational community safety and security practices. Through this work, your organization can gain the ability to assess and address its unique security requirements from the perspective of highly experienced community safety personnel. You will have everything you need to develop your own security culture and to set clear expectations for all roles within your organization, especially for those dedicated to keeping it secure from both internal and external risks.

Our most in-depth and rigorous collaborative learning initiative.

Amidst the groundswell of liberatory movement activity in the summer of 2020, Vision Change Win received over one hundred urgent security and safety training requests from national networks and foundations. To fully support as many organizations in need as possible, we developed our National Community Safety & Security School.

Expand Knowledge and Grow Skills in Community  With Your Security and Safety Cohort

Throughout this course, you will engage with VCW safety security practitioners alongside your cohort in a dynamic learning environment. Together, we will broaden our knowledge of the history and legacy of security and safety work and the culture of movement spaces. Our holistic and immersive approach means that you get experience in hands-on practice with verbal de-escalation and generative conflict techniques. Practicing confidentiality and giving and receiving grounded feedback is an essential course component.

WHAT YOU GIVE

In this course, we come together as collaborators in the work of advancing collective liberation by way of building community safety and security. You bring your lived experience to the conversation, your expertise, and your perspective. Robust participation makes this program a dynamic and embodied experience–so come with it! You give your cohort your time, trust, and active engagement , and in exchange, you leave as part of an ever-expanding justice movement committed to dismantling systems built on insecurity, harm, and disconnection.

When you dedicate your time and energy to this course, collaborating with your cohort, defining and refining your organization’s security culture, you emerge prepared to apply these concrete learnings where they make a lasting impact— in organizational and movement spaces and personal and professional relationships.
