As Community Safety Program Coordinator at Vision Change Win, Wakumi supports movement organizations in building proactive protocols for preventing and addressing harm, threats, and crisis. She coordinates, facilitates, and develops VCW’s training programs. Wakumi was formerly the founding executive director of a internationally-recognized youth-led abolitionist nonprofit. She has worked with numerous organizations as a liberatory transformation consultant, circle keeper, social worker, organizer, trainer and popular educator. She brings two decades of experience in frontline abolitionist organizing, restorative practices & alternatives-to-punishment and liberatory leadership. Wakumi is a Soros Justice and Move to End Violence Fellow, and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Columbia University. She enjoys dancing, traveling, arts & crafts, and spending time in nature.
