Ejeris Dixon (she/they) is an organizer and political strategist with 20 years of experience working in racial justice, LGBTQ, anti-violence, and economic justice movements.
From 2010 – 2013 Ejeris served as the Deputy Director, in charge of the Community Organizing Department at the New York City Anti-Violence Project where they directed national, statewide, and local organizing and advocacy initiatives on hate violence, domestic violence, police violence, and sexual violence. From 2005 – 2010 Ejeris worked as the Founding Program Coordinator of the Safe OUTside the System Collective at the Audre Lorde Project where they worked on creating transformative justice strategies to address hate and police violence.
They are a co-editor of the Beyond Survival: Stories and Strategies of the Transformative Justice movement with Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, which became a finalist for the Lambda Literary award in LGBTQ Anthology. Ejeris’s writing, analysis, and advocacy have been featured in Truthout Magazine, Rolling Stone, Huffington Post, SPIN Magazine, the New York Times, The New Yorker, NBC, CNN, Ms. Magazine, and The Nation. In 2012, the White House recognized Ejeris as an Emerging LGBT Leader twice and selected them as a featured speaker on violence against Black LGBTQ communities.
Ejeris received a Bachelor’s Degree in African American Studies from Yale University and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Nonprofit Management from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service. Ejeris is a karaoke diva, loves cooking complicated meals, and has lived in Brooklyn, NY for the past twenty years.
Ejeris founded Vision Change Win in 2014 and served as its Executive Director from 2014 – 2023.
